Window Adjustment...

My drivers side window does not press against the weather stripping in the rear (where it comes to a point) when it is in the up position. I checked shbox's site on window adjustment, but I can't figure out which adjustment would move the rear of the window inboard - all other points seem adjusted OK. The pass window rattles in the UP position when I hit a stiff bump. I am wondering if the outer seals at the top of the door could be effecting both of these conditions. I adjusted the inner guides, but I suspect that is causing my driver side problem by pushing the window out too much. Anybody have some thoughts for me?

Re: Window Adjustment...

Convert's are a pain! If you haven't had door work done the usual fix is to replace the seals.
The window guides have adjustments for in/out at the top and bottom. If you adjust the bottom in/out it will tilt the top out/in. If you adjust the top in/out, it will move the whole for/aft part of the window in/out. If you adjust the forward bottom out it should tilt the top aft in. It may well move the top forward in also, which will require a small top forward out adjustment. Of course when you make an adjustment to one part you usually have to readjust the other parts. There are also up/down adjustments and anti-rattle in/out adjustable brackets which holds the window against the outer door seals.

The usual procedure is to mark where the window is making contact and measure the gaps as you move it up and down. Then make a small adjustment to one adjuster only and recheck/measure the change. Then go to the next adjuster. Make sure the anti-rattle brackets are not putting to much pressure on the windows, loosen or check them after each adjustment.
