i want to perminantly hardwire my escort 8500 just above the rear view mirror. will the blue tint stop radar? i assume it'll hurt laser performance but thats kind of a pointless topic.

is there any way to remove the blue tint?

Thumbs up Re: will the stock blue tint at the top of windshield block radar (for a detector)

Pretty sure it won't hurt.

I did something similar by mounting it with the suction brackets just to the left of the rearview mirror so the eye is just below the tint. I then threaded the wire between the headliner/windsheild and ran it behind the a pilar and out to the engine bay.
looks real clean

I have the Escort 8500 too but when I use it I put it below the tint because the instructions said it might hamper it's performance.

FasterDammit, you got any pics??

some tint is metalic, and if that is true on our cars then it would block the radar signal, reducing the range of the detector.
