Will ET Streets slow me down?

To the point of not being worth it? I will be going from street tires btw. I know the traction increase is gonna help me out a lot, but is it going to slow me down in the long run? I heard mph goes down a little with them, but what about ET? I can get a great deal on brand new ones from someone for $200 bucks so it's hard to pass up.

Re: Will ET Streets slow me down?

MPH wont change much if you dont deviate too far from your street tire's diameter. Example: street tire 275/40/17 are roughly 25.7in. diameter.ET street 26-10.5-16 are 25.9in. diameter and 26-11.5-16 are 26.1.

In my case I run a 17in street tire and 26-10.5 ET Street, my best street tire pass is a 13.19@109.55. In similar weather on the ET's best pass was 12.61@110.7. As you can see it didnt cange MPH for the worse at least on that run but on the average it did slow down about 1mph.

Is it worth the price I say definetly just dont expect to go and rip off 1/2 second first time out. In an auto it wont be too hard to get the launch right but a stick.....well I'll just say it took about 15 passes to get it figured out.

Re: Will ET Streets slow me down?

I realized I forgot to add my sig. I won't be mounting the ET's until the LT's are installed,I get a mail order tune, and I install my new fuel pump/regulator(current one going bad) sometime within the next month. That should give me a few more ponies and hopefully atleast enough power to make the ET's valuable. Thanks for the example, anyone else? BTW here's my sig.

Edit: I also forgot to mention, my street tire as of now is stock size 245/50/ZR16 Kumho Ecsta Supra's. The ET Streets are 26x10.5x16. Oddly enough I get pretty decent traction with the Kumho's on the street if I'm careful, but I severely suffer at the track, and I eat it if I get too jumpy on the street.

Re: Will ET Streets slow me down?

I just realized this probably should go in the wheel & tire section although it is a relatively general question. Sorry about that mod.

Re: Will ET Streets slow me down?

My car lost about ~.5 mph by switching to BFG drag radials from my street tires, and I couldn't even hit 13.06 which was my previous best time. While at the track, I loaned my DR's to a friend, and I did a couple passes with his street tires on my car, and I got my best time ever! 13.02 @ 107! I picked up almost 1 full mph by having the street tires on the car!?

.....FWIW though, since I don't have a stall converter, my car bogs pretty bad (yes, even with 4.10's!) off the line, so it doesn't break the tires loose all that bad.
