battery ground

hey shoebox i got one for you, i was looking at your site and came across one of your exploded views where the ground from the battery conects to the motor mount for ground right, now my car has that ground on the bolt from the struts under the hood you know where the 3 bolts to remove thee struts well right there.

is that a good place for a ground to be ?? i'm thinking that could be it

Re: battery ground

There are two grounds from the battery. One goes to the block (at the motor mount) and the other goes to a lug on the RH shock tower, that is just behind the positive junction (the one with the red plastic cover). Is that what you mean?

If you don't have a heavy ground cable from the battery to the engine block, you should.

Re: battery ground

ok i got one running to the lug by the positive wires wich should be there and the other ground (heavy duty) is on the lug of the strut shock i'll conect it to the motor mount where it should be

do you think that could be causing my slow starting problem ?

It very well could. Are you getting slow cranking? I bet if you checked the braided ground strap to the coil (you have one of those, don't you?) after trying to start the car, it would be hot . The big neg cable needs to go to the engine. Right now, you basically have two chassis grounds and no engine ground.

Re: battery ground

if the ground is broken(wire) will it cause it to die right after it starts?
