Why would you do this to a 1LE....

I bought my car a few months ago, and knew it was a 1LE but still had the oragne decarbon shocks.... didnt really add up, but the rest of hte car was perfect.
Well I got the answer today when I phoned the dealer that serviced the car for a list of when and what was all done.

Besides him changing the oil religiously even if hte car only moved the 20 minles to and from the dealer in the 3 months it was changed with M1 5W 30, the coolent was flusshed EVERY november between the 1st to 5th, the tranny was changed every year at the same time, and the rear too.

but then come to one thats longer then the rest, dont in 99 with 12,051 miles.
"REPLACE SHOCKS GM PN #22140240 and 22140228 with GM PN #22199128"

fast search shows the first two PNs are the KONI yellows.... and the last one is the orange decarbons.

Like I mean DAMN IT, why would he do that?

So now I gotta get a better suspension.

He probably didn't know what he had.

Or, because the DA Konis that come with the 1LE package don't have a warranty. They can be revalved, but that generally costs almost as much as the shocks would be new (and is a pain in the *** to get done if it's your only set of shocks).

Some people have more money than time.

SLP takeoffs are stockers.
and well they suck bad.

the 1LE shocks are the Koni DA's, so they are very good.

Being stockers, I knew. Just wondering how far down the food chain they were.

The 1LE's are a bit pricey for me. GMpartsdirect, wants 353$ and 357$ for front and rear. Any suggestions on others? Thanks.

AFAIK, the 1LE Koni shocks are no longer available through GM.

If you tried to order them you will get DeCarbon shocks.

I would suggest either Bilstiens, revalved bilstiens, or Koni SA's.

IMO, most of the other shocks companies sell for these cars are junk.

You should get the QA1/Hal - they are $600 for front and rear shocks. I have the 1LE suspension package too. While the shocks are great and do what I need. It is only 100 dollars more to get adjustables. So I figure might as well. I bought my 1LE package from TSP. Thats my opinion.

Oh, the first thing I thought when I read the post was, maybe the guy replaced the shocks cause he thought the ride was too rough. I doubt the shocks went out. Either that or something went wrong, and like someone said, they were covered by warranty. So far the Blistens seem to take a beating pretty well. Thats what the 1LE package now comes with - Blistens. (the are yellow and blue)

The true 1LE should be adjustable.

I think I'm going to end up with bistiens in the rear and koni in the front.

Just sucks that he had to do that. I think it must have been for ride. cause Ireally hope they wouldnt fail that soon.

FYI Koni DA

DA Koni set of 4 $850.00 shipped GMPD
I have ordered 1LE parts for my car including the Koni DA. I got them from GMPD.

1LE (2) Front shock absorber - Koni yellow: (GM p/n 22140240)
(Pair) $355.73 (Shipping / Handling) $71.15 (Total) $426.88

1LE (2) Rear shock absorber - Koni yellow: (GM p/n 22140228)
(Pair) $353.24 (Shipping / Handling) $70.65 (Total) $423.89

I haven't dealt with Jason or Dal yet, they should be able to beat this price some.

SLP was the lowest I could find and they wanted $1149.95 plus shipping.

I have seen quotes for $700 + on Koni SA, so this looked like a deal to me.

I will post if I get the right shocks, the partnumbers are good, but I will know for sure when I get them in my hands.

Now everyone can post and tell me how much I over paid for these shocks, just to torment me.
