whining from engine compartment

whining from engine compartment

i have a 93z28 rebuilt motor built up tranny cold air intake and custom chip and my car whines louder than my old supercharged t bird first off its not the power steering i just wanna know whats causeing it

This is pretty vague, LOTS of things could be causing this. Can you give us a general area where it might be coming from?

The first thing I would do is check to see if the whining increases with engine RPM. Then, take off the serp belt and run your car for a minute to see if the issue is pulley related. Break it down from there.

It could be number of things, I would check all the accessories, the drive belt, and look for any vacuum leaks.

Mine was a whiner,turned out to be the A/C compressor.Funny how it sounded just like a power steering pump though.

looks like you've got a serious case of forced induction


check all your accesories, you should be able to pinpoint where the sound is coming from
