Thumbs up Getting ready for M7

I wanted to do a few more mods to the IROC for Woodward. I didn't get a chance too. So I started yesterday to make sure they were done before M7.
I installed a strut tower brace to start. What a difference it made. I have had the frame tied for many years so I was not expecting to much from the STB. I had it laying in the garage for two years. Man I wish I had done this a long time ago.
Next I am going to dress up the engine compartment with some braided lines. Just to make it look a little better.
Then the NOS kit goes on.
Last the 87 IROC wheels are getting polished and I will be running on DR's.
I am looking to go 1.0 to 1.5 faster than last year. Will try a 150 shot just to see what happens.
Looking forward to another great event.

Well Dave if you guys would quit adding Mods I would not have to. It's hard when you are trying to race with a 3rd gen. I feel like Rodney Dangerfield. I don't get any respect.
Yes I have never gotten over you killing my WS6 on Gratiot. Dave I know I will never be the fastest but would like to at least be in the top 20%. Someone has to stick up for us slow 3rd gens. But then again there may be a 10.0 second third gen there that a few people know about.

Yes you were on a killing spree that night. You guys ran two or three times from what I remember. You were the man that night.
What are you doing home on a Friday night? You should be out looking for some trouser trout.

Here is a question for you guys. I posted these in the GT110 thread but want to make sure alot of people see this.
I am installing a NOS wet kit on my engine. It is a wet kit. I have a Lingenfelter motor with the SuperRam induction system. I have heard you should not run a wet kit because it can leak fuel and backfire causing the lid to blow off. In my mind I would rather blow the lid off than blow the engine running to lean. If I am wrong please post why. I can buy the part to change it over to a dry kit for $100.00. What do you think?

Hey Chris, I am FAR from a juice head...right now anyway but I did see a GREAT article that broke down, how, why, and the reasons for on everything Nirtous. It was the GM Performance rag that had Jason Crommer in it. If anybody by you has it, I would grab it and read it. If not, let me know, and I will scan it into the puter tonight after the Berger show and email it to you. It talked all about what you just asked.

Chris,

I also heard that using a wet kit with the SR will result in fuel puddling in the intake and creating problems. I myself wouldn't attempt it, but its your car and your money Id spend the hundy and get the stuff for the dry kit. Either that or sell it to me

Chris: I really don't like the idea of running fuel through a manifold that was never designed for that purpose. Puddling, and un-equal dispersion are two problems with it. That's why I like a dry system.
The only wet-system I'd run would be a direct-port.

Just my $.02

Thanks guys yes I think you are right. I will get the kit to make it a dry system. I am going to start the install tomorrow. I didn't think about it before but I don't think I have room for the wet kit injectors anyway with the SuperRam. I would have to make some kind of set up for the air filter housing. With the Super Ram there is just enough room now for the stock air filter housing. I may get some 4 inch exhaust and make a system with a big K&N filter on the end. Run it inside the inner fender. That should get a little more air to the throttle body I would think.
Thanks again guys.

Dreamer if you get a chance email me it to me. Sounds like it would be of help seeing I know very little about using NOS.
Thanks my friend.
Mike did you get your trans fixed. I hope so.
I have a new 3000 stall B&M converter I need installed. Does anyone know someone who works cheap? That is more than I can handle with my health. It is a none lockup so it would need a switch installed. Let me know as it would take a little time to come up with the money.
