My stock Delco went south, tried Sears Diehard Gold - same thing, just bought an Optima red top this time (23K in Florida). Be aware AC Delco batteries sometimes leak at the positive terminal and can make a mess.

Yeah, those Sears Diehard batteries sure live up to their name as they Die-Hard in a very short time. I have seen countless numbers of them only last a year or less.

Since you've already decided, I was wondering what was better about the optima red top over other batteries? What's the difference between that and a yellow top?

Buddy bought one a couple days ago from Advance for $119. Sears, PEP Boys, Auto Zone, etc. 3 year free replacement warranty, then pro-rated for several months after that, can't remember exactly.

Re: what's a good car battery?

The Optima batteries are sealed so they will not leak like other batteries can which allows them to withstand much more abuse and vibration. This also means that they can be mounted in any position. The Red Top battery is basically the "everyday battery" which would be like a replacement battery. The Yellow Top battery is a deep cycle battery which is designed for setups that require a large amount of electrical capacity such as with car stereos or lighting systems. That is the quick version, but for more info, check out: http://www.optimabatteries.com/publi...utomotive.html.

I have had a Red Top battery now for about 4 years and it is by far the best battery I have ever owned. In fact, I liked it so much that I took it out of my IROC-Z when I sold it just to put it in my T/A. It has proven itself numerous times when I have left the map light or dome light on overnight (10+ hours) and come out and the car starts right up. I will never buy another battery other than Optima anymore. Just my two cents anyway...

Yeah, I bought red top today. The yellow top is a stonger battery like IROCET said, I wanted to buy they yellow top I could not find it. It was about 40 bucks more then red top.
