what's the easiest way to cool the engine???

Hey what's up fellows, just wondering, I 've read of several ways to cool down the engine, but which is the most efficent or cost effective way of doing it.

There is the 160* stat.
electric water. (I think this helps right?)
A manual switch to start the fans.

What else am I missing??

I've had some severe overheating problems in the past, just wanna stay ahead of the game...

thanks

You could drain the block and try putting in some liquid Nitrogen. I heard thats pretty cold compared to tap water.

Just kidding. You might look to areas other than the pump, maybe there is alot of debris in your radiator fins. never know, could be a failing pump, but thats not consistent to me. A clean radiator cools the best!!!

wow, you had me there for a second.... well to be more direct I wanna know if I could get like a 160* stat and a jet fan switch, and wanna know if this will make a difference on the temperature, if maybe someone that has it wants to comment on it... would appreciated ........

I think the best way would be to completely flush your system to get all the crap out of the block, get your radiator checked to make sure it isn't clogged, get a 160 with the tune to turn the fans on earlier. That should work the best. You might try a E-WP, it shouldn't be needed, but it would definitely help, esp at low speeds. The key with an E-WP is that it flows the same rate all the time, where as your stock WP changes with engine speed.

I actually have the 160 stat, and it does lower the temp quite a bit. i dont know if this matters, but on the newer camaros, the temp is always at 210. after the install, the needle stays a few notches lower than that. also, my car seemed to be dynoing lower because it wasnt running hot enough, so the dyno guy said, who knows if that matters. The HP was going up with the heat.

Adding a 160 stat helped me, but didn't get it anywhere near 160. programming the fans to come on low made all the difference.

My car also dynoed lower and had a rich air/fuel ratio because of my 160* stat. My temp gauge rarely goes past 1 notch during consistent driving, but still climbs a notch past half way and higher during low speed driving (like going through parking lots, finding a parking place. I don't know if that's bad or not, so I hope that when I put in a 180*, I won't overheat during low speed driving.

so you're going from a 160* to a 180* satat ??

So it sounds like what really makes a difference in temp is tuning for the fans to come on earlier.
has any body tried the fan switeches though, they apparently come on @ 195° and turns off at 185°. would you guys say good deal for 45 $$'s at jegs http://www.jegs.com/webapp/wcs/store...1189&langId=-1

PCM programming won't cost much more than that and do you more good.

My fans come on at 170/180

Get a longer air dam (often used to compensate for aftermarket ground effects) and a cowl hood. Air goes in - air flows out!

Reprograming fans or getting aftermarket higher flow fans is probably the best though.
