Coulden't a shop put 4 inch pipes all the way back from the cat backs? I think im missing the point of them comeing in these exspensive kits.

It would probably end up being the same price or greater. Note a shop has to bend the pipes over the rear axle and all those goodies. The kits really are not that expensive. You can find them for 300 bucks.

A "cat back" is called that because it is the entire system from the catalytic converter all the way back to where it exits--usually at the rear of the car. If that's not what you want, then it looks like you're just looking for a muffler.
