What should I paint my LCAs,panhard, and rearend with?

Planning on taking off my LCAs, panhard, and swaybars to clean and paint them and install new bushings and endlinks. I am also going to get all of the rust off of the rearend and paint it as much as I can (atleast the axle tubes). What would you guys recommend painting it with that I can buy at a regular shop (autozone, strauss auto, pep boys, etc.)????

Also would you guys recommend some type of sanding of the parts first before painting besdies just cleaning well with a wire brush?

What about some type of primer? I think usually they help the paint's longevity.

Thanks for any tips, plan to put my retired Dad who is bored as hell to work on a sunday afternoon and I figure about 6 hours is enough time to take off the parts, clean them, paint them, let them dry and reinstall.

can paint it with that por-15 paint. i used it on the welds for my SFCs, its holding strong after about 2 years already. i think the website is www.por-15.com. (wait missed the part about wanting to buy it locally, sorry, only way i know to get por-15 is online...but it is good stuff though.)

This is an option and works excellent. Kinda pricey though. Also, if your just looking to prevent rust you can go the route I did. I just used some rubber bed liner paint. Like 3 or 4 bucks at autozone and 1 can goes a long way. Goes over anything, rust, grease, dirt, ect. Doesn't matter what it covers all. Goes on very nicely and I believe it's paintable. I just left it black, but if you want it another color I'm sure you could spraypaint it once dried. Good luck. Also heres is another option or possibly a prep option.

THanks guys, I like the por-15 idea but I am going to try the bedliner thing from autozone. I am going to clean and use a metal wheel on the rearend, LCAs, panhard rod and swaybar then paint them with the bedliner (guess I can just tape off with newspaper where I dont want it to go.

Now what about my wheel wells? I just now noticed a rust spot at the bottom of the drivers side rear, could I clean them out and paint them with bedliner too? LOL

Your talking inside the fender wells right? If so you can easily paint em with the rubber bedliner stuff. You can basically paint anything. Also the longer you hold the paint in one area the thicker it goes on(unlike normal spray paints where you have to let it dry, add another coat, etc.). One mild coat of that stuff will cover basically anything you'll need. No mess with multiple coats.
