I went to the dealership and they read I have Pellet Code 15. I told the guy at radio shack I need a resistor for my car between 11328 and 12292ohms. He told me they dont sell them and I need to go to a more specialized store.
Anyone able to link me to what I would need and do i combine resistors to make what I need?

If you have that wide of range just ask for a 12K ohm resistor. That would be 12,000 ohms. The way to measure the VAT's resistance for your specific car is to use a ohm, or multi meter set on ohms and put the red probe on one side of the key chip and the black lead on the other side of it.

My parts dealer was nice, he told me he'd copy part of the repair manual if i wanted to replaced the faulty part.

What is heat shrink and another person said use a telephone wire tap. If I put a 12k ohm resistor in would I just connect it with a telephone wire tap. one to each of the wires??

I soldered a 10k, 1k, 470, and 330 1/4 watt resistor's together. Put telephone tap connectors on. Wrapped them 4 times in electrical tape and closed it up. Total cost $7.44.
It would have been 1.06 if my store had a 12k ohm resistor and if i didn't use the tap connectors, but it let me avoid having to solder inside my car.

how did you connect the resistors to the car? did you wire them into the two white wires found inside the orange loom coming off the back of the key cylinder?
they are saying solder and use shrink wrap because its a more secure connection and the shrink wrap will help insulate the resistors against metal parts under teh dash which can screw up a lot of things in the car.
i install remote start systems and in tehse cars we have to bypass the VATS i use resistors solder them in and then use electrical tape to insulate.
at my best buy we have packages of resistors on hand i would have just gave you a bag full for you to disect and use whatver you can.. DEI gives me resistors with every alarm i install and i never use them just throw the bag in my toolbox.\

I did it the same way you did. It worked for a while, then I started getting the security light every now and then. And waiting for it to clear so I could crank the car. I put up with this for about 6 months, then one day when I went to leave work, it wouldnt clear for nothing. I spent 45 min trying to get it to crank over. Luckly I had tools at work to tear apart the bottom of my dash to get in and redo the work. After I got home, it got solder and heat shrink, and no problems since
