Question What is an old police special (B4C) worth ??

I have a chance to get a 2000 police camaro and wonder what it may be worth. It appears to be in good original condition. 131k miles, Rollbar, Ect. Are these collectable? Thanks in advance for any feedback. May be a LS1 engine, Mark

It definitely has the LS1 engine.

In my opinion, the only way for that vehicle to be a collectible is if it's bone stock and you keep it that way.

It's one of 254 B4C in 2000!

48 arctic white 39 with AT 9 with 6speed
42 pewter metallic all AT
70 sebring silver metallic all AT
18 navy blue all automatic
42 black all AT
6 monterey maroon metallic all AT
4 bright red all AT

the arctic white with 6speed is very rarely!

B4C option include: Stock Z28 with Goodyear P245/50ZR16, power steering cooler,
body color roof, 1LE rear control arms, Z28 emblems deleted, only 9 six speed in 2000!

greetings
Thomas

It's worth a good bit less than book for a normal z28 of that year with those high miles.

Oh no not the regular B4C debate

some people into the copper camaro's, some aren't

if it's cool to you, buy it. don't go out and buy it or not buy it because a bunch of people here said to or not

i don't think that they are any more in demand or collectible than any other similar camaro at present, except for maybe to the guys who are gaga over them

Markel66,

Obviously this is a car that has seen service (rollbar). You may find the rollbar to be woefully out of spec for any sanctioned racing. In a street driven car, it is MUCH more of a hazard than NOT having one. Unprotected heads impacting even a padded rollbar is going to be ugly. I have yet to see a B4C with the proper padding on the bar--- most is pipe paddiing from Lowe's. The car is probably going to have holes in it from lightbars/sirens/antennas. Live with it or repaint the car. The console is most likely all to pieces. The driver's seat is well worn most likely -- lots of entries/exits. The wiring harness *may* be in poor shape from the removal of the strobes/wig wags. Not a lot of time is usually taken when they are decomissioned. Check for body repairs like mashed fenders and broken nose pieces. Also check the K member -- odds are is packed full of dirt and grass from many trips across the median.

I have owned and do own several ex-cop cars. The 94-96 '52P' Caprices are the best -- built like a tank and they hold up well. Crown Vics are OK but were never the car the Caprice was. The Camaro's were just not built to withstand the severe duty. Performance wise, they are NO different from a stock Z28.

I have a '96 B4C we run in Open Road Racing that had 131k on it when I bought it from the City of Ft Worth. I would have been multiple thousand dollars ahead to have bought a 96 Z28. People are going to tell you about all the 'special equipment' a Cop Camaro has and it just ain't so. It was ECONOMICS and nothing else. The B4C option stripped some of the Z28 options away and made the car cheaper for the PD's to buy --- that is it and that is all there was to it. A stripped down Z28 that was cheaper.

Unless it's very cheap, the high miles and abuse would make the car decidedly not worth it, IMHO. The only way I'd ever buy a B4C is if it never saw fleet duty and had reasonable miles. Otherwise, why? It's not any better than a standard 2000 Z28. Those cars are cheap and wouldn't have the abuse of a typical cop car. My opinion of course.
