Well, if you plan on throwing all of those mods. on the car, then an LT1 or an LS1 would make nice numbers. The LS1 will most likely always come out ahead with whatever mod. you do. You can find an LT1 car alot cheaper so you can use that extra money saved for a nice heads/cam combo. and headers or whatever route you decide.

I'm a little confused, I never heard to the T54, I have heard of the T56 though, is that what you are referring to?

Re: What Engine?

All the 93-02s were optioned with the T56 manual tranny so if you got a rolling chassis that was previously a manual, then you would have no problems dumping the tranny in. It might be cheaper though just to buy a running car. If you figure on the costs of getting a complete motor, a k-member, a compatible trans, all the wiring, and I'm sure there is a bunch more, you will probably spend more then you want. You can easily find an
LT1 for 3-5K and have money left over to do alot of stuff to it.

Re: What Engine?

If both LS1 cars and LT1 cars are in the same price rage go with an LS1. I don't see why they would be unless the LT car is a gem and the LS has been a daily driver. Have you tried private owners or just car lots?
