What do I need to do to get to 2800 LBS?
I've done a LOT of weight reduction so far.. My goal is to make the car appear to be stock (Retaining rear seats). My buddy had his 02 SS weighed before shipping and it weighed in at about 3300lbs w/ leather seats and a 1/4 tank of gas. I have a 2000 Z28 w/ stock cloth interior. I still have yet to have it weighed. I also have a list of parts and what they weigh to base stuff off of. -Bookmarked here.
I have become VERY addicted to weight reduction, prolly cause it's free power. I'm going to start cutting harnesses for crap that has been deleted. I'd like to remove my airbags because I just do NOT like them. Every time I pop the hood, I just want to start ripping stuff out due to the weight. I'm also dying to get the dash off to delete more crap (Sound deadening)
I figure I've taken 300 lbs off the car so far. I'm prolly missing a couple things I've deleted. I'd REALLY like a tubular K member and A arms. WHat do you think I'd weigh in at now? 2800-2900 lbs is my goal.
Here's what I've removed/upgraded so far.
Fiberglass hood shaves 30lbs.
A/C Delete -40lbs
A.I.R. system Delete -10lbs
EGR delete -5lbs
Cruise Control and bracket Delete -10lbs
Spare tire and Jack -25lbs
Removed sound deadening material from sail panels and floor of car. (-20lbs?)
Removed wiring harness for rear speakers. -Both about 5lbs.
Monsoon Deleted -4lbs
Plastic crap in trunk deleted. -Not the side rear speaker panels.
Plastic panels near sway bar deleted. -2 1lb?
Harness from speakers removed (ALL)

^ yeah.. 2800lbs may be a bit out of reach.. I'll set it to 3000 even... That'll be a bit more realistic.. I just get rid of a lot of crap I don't need, stripping the car basically.. I'm so co0ncerned w/ weight, it's unreal.. I won't put pedals in the car because it adds weight, that kind of stuff... I'm about to ditch the box in the back too.. But I like the kick it adds to my music.
I deleted too much stuff out of the trunk, it sounds like it's open when driving around w/ the windows up.

If you want a race car then go buy a race car........stripping, ripping and tearing up a nice car is stupid....I know, I have done it several times and regretted everyone of them
The most improtant thing you can do is get rid of those heavy *** Rebels. THose things weigh 33lbs a piece iirc. I was going to get some, until i realized that. I then got some Fikse FM5's
Look better (the rebels are an imitation of them), are a true 3 piece wheel, andthey weigh half as much (around 17 lbs a piece)
remember, every pound of rotating weight is worth 6 or 7 lbs of stationary weight.

I remember years ago there was a guy around here with a white LT1 car that was at 2800 pounds, I dont remember if that was with him in it or not. Anyway, the car looked like a theft recovery, to the max. Im not talking just the carpet and seats gone, the things was stripped of EVERYTHING and he had a ton of tubular suspension stuff to go along with the weight savings too. I think he was hitting low 12's or high 11's at the time on a basically stock car.
^^^^
No way he was in that car at that weight. And I'm sure there was way more to it than weight reduction. If you take a basic LT1 Z that runs high 13s and strip 600-700 lbs from it, you now have a car that looks like crap that runs low to mid 13s. It's just not worth it. Each 100lbs is worth about 1/10 in the 1/4. So you have to remove a crap load of stuff to barely feel a difference in the car.
Strip the race car but leave everything in the street car.

i dont remember which vendor sells it, but buy the "rear seat delete", it looks like the back seats just folded down, and gets rid of some weight.
Also, buy some black corbeau seats or something that appear stockish, the power seats are HEAVY
