Weird Rear Defroster Problem

Now since it's getting cold and frost is starting to get onto the back glass,I have noticed that the defroster light will go out after about 15-20 secs. Now if it is warm and nothing is on the glass,it works fine????

Ok. I replaced the 30a breaker with a 30a fuse and it still cutoff, just not as soon. But,the breaker was reallyHOTTTTTTT when i removed it. I could feel the heat on the back window when it was on though.

Well,
I got my manual and it told me how to check the grid.Anything below 6 volts was ok and anything around 10 volts means a broken grid. I did it and it found a break in the bottom grid about 1/4 inch long. It's amazing how something that small causes big problems. The short was causing the breaker to get hot and shut off i guess.

The breaker is always going to get some heat in it. Are you saying it still cuts off quickly?

no.Before it would cutoff after about 30 secs. Now it's more like 2-3mins.That's why i thought that it may be cutting off because there is no frost.

I would retest it on a frosty day.
