I did a search, but did not see this anywhere.

My key fob will unlock the doors, open the trunk and trigger the "alarm." The car starts with no security light. I can hold down the lock and unlock buttons and reset the fob.

All good right? The alarm goes off whenever I open the door. Whether I lock the car or not. It did not go off one time today when I hit unlock three times.

What the heck?

That is all I can figure. The key is not passing all the info to the alarm? I don't know; this is new to me.

 

passkey is VATS, and this is an alarm issue, not VATS


does the car havce an aftermarket alarm?(have you looked under the dash if you don't know?)

 

All stock alarm and thanks for answering. Happened recently. What I don't get is how the remote works perfectly and lock/unlock works, but the alarm goes off. Never happened before.

 

Bit of an update.

Last night I found that I could prevent the alarm if I hit unlock multiple times. After that I closed the door and watched the car. The light on the dash went solid red until the headlights flashed and then it started blinking. I have never seen it do this before.
