Alright well when i start my car up sometimes theres this knocking sound coming from the engine but it goes away after a while. Then sometimes when im idling or slowly acclerating it will sometimes make a knocking sound too, but only sometimes does this happen. Anyone have any idea what this is? I have a 1998 V6 Firebird by the way.

Also ive noticed my car is lagging like crazy...its hesitating everytime i hit the gas, and it just doesnt sound right. Now i need to change my plugs and wires REAL bad. I just havent gotten around to it. Im hoping thats what it is, will bad spark plugs cause hesitation this bad? It hesitates when i punch it from a roll and everything. Now i was also noticing that when i changed my oil my y-pipe has oil all over it in one spot and it just looks like its about to just crumble or something, it doesnt look good at all. Could this be a reason too?

My last problem is when i put it in reverse it will pause for a little bit and then finally go even while im hitting the gas. Sometimes it wil rev up so much before it goes that it will spin tires when it finlly goes. Also whenever i start out from a rolling start sometimes it will rev up and then finally go, and its never done this before. My shifts are a lot harder too then they use to be. Is my tranny going out? Somene said that my torque converter might be going out. Is this true?

It doesnt really matter though b/c im doing a LS1 swap this winter, but i just wanted to know what was all wrong.

 

I'd say either way it's time to do your swap....Put 'er away and get wrenching...I've seen it done in 3 straight days..Not bad

I was j/w what would make sounds like this and make the car act like this in case i ever faced it in the future.
