Weight: LT's vs. Stock Manifolds
Weight: LT's vs. Stock Manifolds
I have always wondered what would weight more. I know our stock manifolds weight quite a bit, but do Jet-Hot coated long tubes or any other coated LT headers weigh more or less than the stock manifolds?
Re: Weight: LT's vs. Stock Manifolds
I'd guess less, as they are bigger, but the stock manifolds are heavy as hell. Lt's are thinner metal and actually really light. My Jet Hots (LT1) and my Hookers (LS1) both seemed lighter.
Re: Weight: LT's vs. Stock Manifolds
Just curious, why do you need to know?
I mean, even if LT's weighed more than manifolds (which they don't), the weight savings wouldn't "out - weigh" (no pun intended
) the gains from LT's
.

Re: Weight: LT's vs. Stock Manifolds
The Hooker long tubes weigh in at 24 lbs. The Pace Setters are 30 lbs. Stock manifolds with AIR pump fittings weigh 26 lbs.
One thing to consider is that long tubes get you down further in the exhaust setup than do the stock manifolds. BUT, typically aftermarket y-pipes are heavier than the stock thin metal y-pipe. I don't have y-pipe data but I expect overall the difference isn't that much.
But, to just answer your question, as you can see above, depends on which set of long tubes you are talking about
