bumper supports
see if you can find that list of parts and their weights that i think Brent Franker has put together.
what is his sn? Brent94z or is it Bfranker....can't remember
he lists just about everything you can imagine removing...down to less than a pound i think

Re: Ways to cut weight
yeah im starting to get worried about my weight problem...i want to remove more but i think im going to start getting into glassin the rear quarters and stuff.
no carpet, no back seat, no passenger seat, racing seat in drivers position, fiberglass vfn dash, of course no speakers, radio, air bags, sway bar and brackets gawn, gas tank gawn (little 2 gallon fuel cell), windows are lexan and i only have the skins for my doors. i made a light frame that consists of a round bar going down the center of the door skin (horizontally) and a plate welded to that for the door hindges. i have also spent hours on grinding off sound deading material crap from the wheel wells. Inner wheel wells gawn up front (those plastic things). Man...i think thats about it! of course it doesnt have ac or power steering or anything like that. The motor has a carb on it as well. Just waiting for me to finish up my bbc and i'll be happy!
what to you guys think about getting a drag body for it? i know it sounds radical and I'll have a problem with exspansion rates from fiberglass to metal...but im curious how far I can take this. Opinion??? Comments??

Well, get a pin on hood and ditch the hinge hardware as well as the struts. Back glass is hella heavy; Replace with 1/8th lexan (this is a pure drag car right?). lightened ring gear as well as drilled axles helps get the last little bit of recip weight off, and if your serious, then ditch the front end suspension design altogether and run some lamb struts with coilovers and use center hung wheels. You can get it stupid light, but it costs da bucks!
Probably the most effective will be the hood and rear glass. In about 6 months, I'll be able to tell you EXACTLY how light you can get it

Re: Ways to cut weight
I just want to cut some simple weight. Not an all out drag car yet, don't have the money to sink into it. I'm going to tub it in the near future and recarpet it, but until then i was just wandering what else i can take out to try and lighten it up.
