If its an LT motor, get to it before it gets to your optispark

Re: water pump

That means the bladder is failing and needs replacing soon. Unless where it mounts is leaking you need a new one. One guy came up with a great idea and added a grease zerk and a hose to divert the coolant away from the opti so it would stay dry until he had the time to replace it.

Re: water pump

dont know if i would buy a no name water pump off ebay besides you can buy a ac delco pump from rockauto for $103 i dont mind spending some cash if the pump is bad but if there is a gasket under that inspection plate then i would rather spend a few bucks for a gasket then a hundo on a new pump

Re: water pump

To my knowledge there is no gasket there. but what i used was Permatex gasket material to seal the cover to the housing. If you go this route, be sure to use only as much sealant as you need. Over-apply, and the excess material can interfere with impeller operation.

Re: water pump

Just make sure while your working on it that you dont let any coolant touch the optispark or else your looking at some more money for one of them.

And ive heard good things about that waterpump on ebay, but hey I didnt know rockauto had one for 103$ either haha

Re: water pump

i have been using them before they where so well known i found a add in the back of a car magazine years ago call a chevy dealer and get a price on that same wter pump i bet its twice the price if not more its well worth it on the higher priced items i just ordered two new windshield wipers because of the stupid reversed wiper arm hooks from the for $18 shipped my none of the auto parts stores stocked them the lowest local price i found was 15 each it adds up so to spend a hour or two hours to save a few hundred dollars is well worth it in my eyes

ps i didnt know they where a sponsor and hoped i didnt get in trouble for giving them a plug lol
