VATS removal
VATS removal
Alright, I've been having trouble with my VATS system, and frankly I'm tired of having to deal with it. I have a 3.4l and as far as I know there aren't any companies that will delete the VATS from my ECM. So, I have to go another route to remove VATS. As I understand, the VATS or Passkey system will shutoff the starter via the theft detterant relay, and it will shut off the fuel system by not sending the correct signal to the ECM. To overcome the last problem I could use the "VATS Bypass Module" from Baker Electronix. Baker Electronix: VATS Bypass Module Now, to get past the starter relay couldn't I simply connect two wires that are currently going to the relay to bypass it? This is explained well in this post... http://web.camaross.com/forums/showt...ht=vats+bypass
Now, to illustrate the entire Idea (since a picture's worth a thousand words), this is the current VATS wiring diagram from Shoebox's site... http://shbox.com/1/pass_key.jpg
this is what I propose doing to eliminate VATS... (BTW: This is untested, don't anyone try this!!, and thanks Shoebox, your site is a goldmine of f-body info, I hope you don't mind i borrowed and altered this to make a point.) http://www.geocities.com/v6camaro204/vatsdelete2.jpg
I'd like to know what you all think. Would this work?
