Unknown Starting Problems

Okay, I've been having starting troubles with my 96 Z28. Sometimes I try to start it and it just cranks and cranks. Then when i let off the key it tries to start and sounds like when a car diesels. If I remove the intake elbow from the throttle body, open up the butterflys and let it sit for a while it will usually start. Seems like the car is flooded for some reason. This has happened three times in the last year. The most recent was this weekend. I've made a connection between all of the occurences. It seems to happen only when it's been sitting for a while (two days or so) and it's damp or rainy outside. If I start the car every day it's fine. It runs just fine in the rain also. Only when it sits for a while in damp weather that it gives me trouble. I pulled a plug to take a look and it looked pretty good, with only a few carbon deposits. Has anyone ever had this problem before? Anyone got any ideas on how to figure out what's causing it?

Mine occasionally does the same thing but it is not linked to damp weather. You don't need to remove the intake elbow; just hold the gas peddle to the floor when starting.
