Ugh, need help with some rear caliper issues
I replaced the brake calipers on the rear of my '95 Z last night. The replacement calipers didn't come with the bracket part (the caliper "half" opposite of the caliper piston end). My original calipers had those slide pins (is that what they are?) as part of the bracket (they slid into the bracket and had rubber boots on them). The new caliper came with those slide pins on the actual caliper. It's the same setup basically, so do you think they just changed the design so that the slide pins are on the caliper itself instead of part of the bracket? They were rebuilt calipers that I bought, so I don't see how they could have changed them...hmmm.
My second concern is this: I took the car out for a test drive after replacing both rear calipers and bled the whole system. The brakes seem to work fine. I didn't replace the rotors this time because they weren't all that bad, they just had a tiny ridge on the outermost surface which is a normal wear pattern for rotors. The rear passenger rotor now is completely smooth all the way at the edge and everything. It's like the brakes are covering that ridge and ground it off, while they didn't do it with my old caliper and pads. I did put new pads on of course. The driver side looks fine and that old ridge on the rotor is still there. The funny thing is that neither side is getting overly hot (i.e. they work fine, brakes are engaging, so they're not dragging).
Any help or ideas with this would be very appreciated! Thanks.
