Question true or false in 96

i dont mean to post this is the wrong place, but i cant seem to find any other help....

in my 96 my power antenna is all the way up with the car on and off.... did they come factory with power antennas? ive heard yes and no... but i can think of 3 other people with 96 f-body's with them.... i just dunno what to do to get it down....checked my fuses and all that...nothing. if its a factory option, is there any way i can just put a hot and a gound on a few wires and get it to come down if the motor is even good?? please help im lost

AFAIK Firebirds came with power antennas, Camaros came with fixed ones.

my '94 Z had a fixed antenna, my '99 TA had power. so that seems to fit what everyone else is saying.

My 96 TA has a fixed antenna. It has the harness next to the antenna if I want to add a power antenna. My brother has a 97 TA with a power antenna. When his motor went out, the antenna wouldn't go down. He put a new one in, and now it works fine.

I just did some research and there isn't an RPO code for a power antenna on Camaros, so it must not have been an option.

However, theoretically, the antenna should go down when you turn off the radio. If you have an aftermarket radio, I don't know what to tell ya.

It should be pretty easy for him to pop the spare tire cover panel and look to see if there is a motor at the base of the antenna.

my 96 formula came with a fixed antenna and i just recently replaced it with an automatic antenna bc it already had the harness for a power antenna... then again never saw a factory camaro with a power antenna so i think ur S.O.L. unless u have the harness for it and just put a power one in like i did

Here's a DIY link off Brent Franker's page to upgrade a 4th Gen Z28 to add a power antenna: http://www.geocities.com/mdw9965/power-antenna.htm
