Transmission whine with A4

Anyone else's A4 have a whine to it? I really notice it when I'm doing a burnout at the track. It is just a whine that varries with RPM. Doesn't happen with normal driving but mostly with the burnouts and WOT. I'm prety sure its coming from the tranny. It does have about 30k on the tranny.

Re: Transmission whine with A4

If it vary with RPM, it's probably not the transmission.
1. Remove serpentine belt, start the engine and try to reproduce the condition. If the noise is gone, one of accessories makes noise, if it's is still there go to step 2.
2. Hopefully the whine can be heard at idle, if not it is useless to do this test. Unbolt torque converter from flywheel. Push the torque away from flywheel towards transmission. Start the engine and listen. If it is still whining,
the noise comes from the engine, if not=torque converter or transmission.
