My T/A broke down on me about 45 miles away from home on teh highway. Recently the car has been loosing power, it ran fine, but just didn't have the power it should have. Today, when i was driving down the road, suddenly it just didn't have any power at all, itl idle ok, but if you try to go, or try to keep it reved up at 2k rpm, it just acts like its starving for fuel.

I messed with it on the side of the road, eliminating sensors, but i think the fuel pump is giving way on it. Seems like its not moving enough volume, won't be able to put a fuel pressure gauge on it until i get it home. Just wondering if anyone has ever experienced this, and what they found.

I just ordered a 100 dollar forced induction elbow to replace my torn stock one too (i know this isn't causing the problem).


That and today, while i was at Autozone getting a new battery for my backup car, i think the gas station across the street got robbed lol. When i was leaving autozone, 5 cops swarmed up to the gas station, i'll have to watch the news tonight to see what it was about, if its not on the news, i'll check out the dispatch log tomorow on the police's website

 

what year? is it making Fuel presure? does it have spark

 

1995, yea it has spark, itl idle fine, when you first start it up, after priming, itl rev up to 2500 and hold for a lil bit, but then itl loose power, seems like its starving for fuel. spark seems fine, i checked all around the opti for coolant, dry as a bone.

Don't know what the fuel pressure is until i get it towed home.

 

check the fuel presure with a gauge. when a pump take a **** it wont run

 

After checking for fuel pressure check for a plugged cat.

 

HAHA, i was talking with a buddy from college, he said a friend of his had a plugged cat that had the exact same symptoms. His vehicle was an S10, so yes my plan is to look at fuel pressure, and then look at cat. The exhaust has gotten a bit quieter i have noticed over time, so i feel, the cat might just be the problem...

yea its a plugged catalytic convertor, my torn air intake elbow probably caused it over time.
