Re: TIPS MAKE HUGE DIFFERENCE in exhaust sound

Yeah, no kidding about the difference in sound from tips. I have quad tips on my car...and if you plug one hole on each side it changes drastically...doesn't really even sound like the same car. Just kind funny, I think.

I don't want a 5.0, but a healthy one sure sounds sweet. If all I had to do was put on a certain set of tips to get that sound I'd do it in a heart beat.

Re: TIPS MAKE HUGE DIFFERENCE in exhaust sound

Any of you guys ever taken the tips off your stock exhaust? How much different did it make the sound? I don't have $$$ for a catback yet and I don't feel like unbolting and risking a ticket, so I'm just wondering if it would be worth doing to make it louder/meaner sounding...

Tips are dead weight. Header mufflers for the win.

You my friend, need a cutout. I have manual one got for 30 and installed for 40. (Although i hear the going rate for installation is 25) . Same as unbolting but if you think you are gonna be going through high risk areas for tickets, you cover it. Ive driven mine 24/7 open i love the sound and loud level. I probably could get a ticket for it, but im just careful and try to use some common sense and look out for cops.

Re: TIPS MAKE HUGE DIFFERENCE in exhaust sound

always figured it did but never knew for sure, maybe i need to try some dual/dual tips with my new mufflers.. it already has a deep sound just a little raspy, but i think theres a few other reasons for that how would the sqaure (stock style) tips sound compared to dual/duals?

I noticed the same thing when I welded the stock tips onto the Flowmaster AT catback. I made it alot quieter, I loved the way it sounded before, now its just quiter.

Re: TIPS MAKE HUGE DIFFERENCE in exhaust sound

Hopefully not a waste of time to revive this thread, but does anyone have sound clips of pre/post exhaust tip switch? Thanks!
