timing chain
timing chain
ok my car has alot of miles on it... so i was thinking of replacing the timing chain.... what do you reccomend for a timing chain and what else should i look at doing while i have everything apart?
For a stock-ish or not highly modified engine, the stock timing set should be ok. For more piece of mind, you could install the LT4 extreme duty set. Both of those are compatible with what you have and will not require any additional items or modifications.
The water pump and optispark have to come off to do the timing set, so consider those for replacement, if needed. If you change to an electric water pump, you will have additional choices for timing sets (like Cloyes double roller). The Cloyes set cannot be used with the stock, mechanical w/p.
