I did rear seal. I used a gm (gmparts.com) part which has more sealing flutes than the Felpro. Make sure the seal housing and crankshaft are concentric. Make a seal install tool to assemble the seal evenly.

I also had numerous leaks @ the rear intake manifold. I ended up modifying the rear of the manifold by cutting a small (1/32") groove to retain the rtv and provide a labyrinth type seal. I moved to permatex grey, but, did not apply excessive amount. I also roughed up the rear block "china" wall surface and wiped everything down with brake cleaner. Let the sealer cure for about 1/2 hour, then place manifold on block and hand tighten fasteners/ light torque. Wait another 1 hour and torque with multiple passes. Re-torque the next day. I have no leaks. HTH. B.

i have also had numerous rear main seal and intake manifold leaks...finally neither one leaks anymore :-)
when i replaced my clutch last time, i replaced the rear main seal with a viton one, and its been perfect ever since...much better than the two stock replacement rubber seals that i blew through...
and for the intake manifold, when i took it off i scraped down everything real well and scored the metal surface along the back and front edges. also, to seal it back up i used "The Right Stuff" and never looked back. not a drop of oil gets through it now. also, as preventative maintainence, i wrapped the egr tube with reflective exhaust tape to keep it a little cooler bc ive heard that the egr tube heats up and causes the sealant to fail and ultimately lead to an intake leak in the rear passenger side corner of the intake manifold.
btw...no need to pull the engine for any of this...might actually be alot easier not to...
