I think the 5th-gen is a killer looking car . I know that some people don't like it at all, while others love it to death. I definitely like it a lot .

That being said, I've had a chance to drive a couple of the CTF cars (both 6-speed SS's) and I don't feel as "at home" in the driver's seat as I do in my '02 Z28 . I'm sure it's something I could get used to, but my first impression of the 5th-gen (just sitting in the car) didn't grab me the same way as my 4th-gen did .

So, regardless of if I ever buy a 5th-gen or not, I WILL be KEEPING my 2002 . It's my baby ... I've had it since new .

I had a long ride in a New Camaro_5th Gen. V6 with a 6 speed. The ride was alot better (smoother) than my 97ss. Very good over rough roads. It also had good power for a V6. Better than any other stock V6 I have had a ride in. You sit quite low in it compaired to my 97ss.

But, my 97ss is way modified. I like to think that the Camaro is a start on a long journey of your personal statement. I have modified just about everything on my 97ss, and it is a road monster that finishes rice and euro when they tread on me. It is a violent ride, which is just what I want. I got my brain-power and alot of money all wrapped up in that thing. It is me. I could never part with it even though the ricers allways make a point that it has "pushrods." B.

I agree with the previous posts. As I am on my second 4th gen F-body, I cannot see myself in a new one. I use mine Z as a 3rd car. If i was to purchase a 5th gen, it would have to be a daily driver. I like the fact that I have an " older car" in the garage. This is especially nice as 4th gens are fading away. I still remember the first time I saw the 4th gen Z28 and how badly I wanted one.

I also would say that the knowledge base I have on this car has me feeling so attached to it. Can you imagine how much time it will take to build that knowledge base up? There wont be a reference site like Shoeboxs' for quite some time. I like to be able to diagnose the common issues we face, even though they can be annoying, it is rewarding to search and fix problems. Although I dont post much, I am on this site all day long and really enjoy my car.

I have a " muscle car" to enjoy modifying it and driving it. I don't feel that the 5th gen car would satisfy that for me.

Jim

I love the look and overall feel of the 5th gen but it feels too cramped for me. I love my 95 Z and we have many more days of modding and driving ahead of us before it would be going away. I will keep my 4th gen and pass on the 5th's unless they get a little more roomy.

I'd sell my 4th gen before I trade it.. I can get more for it outright.

I thought about selling it for a Vette, but I'll just keep it and make it a mean street machine.

I want a 5th gen just as bad as anyone, but the idea of parting with my 4th gen is weighing heavy. Its been with me for 8 years, over 100,000 miles, 2 colors, trany swap....all done by me. and keeping both really isnt a possibility.

It is a nice looking car have to see how they do once they get some miles on them. The first year of a new car is the shake down to fine bug if any. Still going to get one maybe next year.

The 5th gen is a little bigger/heavier, but also has quite a bit more power. I'd like to have one but I don't think I could trade my SS in on one. I can't DD a fbody in the snow, and I also don't want 3 cars.

I like both, but I wouldn't sell my 96 Z28 for a 5th gen...maybe own both. But my 96 has 128k miles, and KBB says it's like $4500 or something.

The car is worth more to me then it does to the market. I wouldn't sell it for $4500 because I've had it for 11 years now and modified it to my liking, so I can't see selling it to somehow who wouldn't appreciate the true "value" of the car.

But I do like the look of the new ones...but rather see it in person and wait a year for all the bugs to get worked out. Also, heard rumors of a Z28 model...wanna see if that's true.

Anybody know if there's any plans for a T-top version? Sunroofs don't do much for me and I'm not into convertibles. I love my t-tops b/c it's right in the middle.
