Re: Tilt steering VERY loose

If it is the tilt mechanism that is loose, it might be able to be repaired, but you will have to tear way into the column to do it.

Here are instructions to fix it.

http://home.t-online.de/home/O_Scholz/steering.html

I had to fix mine last year. I took it out of the car to do it, trying to do it in the car proved to be to much of a PITA. My pivot pins were actually lose, not the 4 main bolts. You are in for a treat.... That steering column is a 3D jigsaw puzzle. Good luck, and remomber "this is FUN" LOL.

Even so, he'll still have to remove his culumn and take it apart far enough to change out the ignition cylinders. Once he has it apart that far, he might as well just keep going and fix it.

That would almost be a tempting offer, though. Fixing mine was a major pain.

Re: Tilt steering VERY loose

In a previous issue of camaro performers magazine there was a whole section on fixing third gen loose steering colums.
