Taillight melted on 02 SS

I noticed yesterday my DS taillight has a concave spot about 3" wide in the plastic. Has anyone heard of a problem with melting taillights?

My car has the same problem, but on the passenger side. The previous owner did have the blackouts on there, not sure if that is the true cause of the problem.

I have uploaded a few pics. I verified the bulb was correct 3057. The car has under 4k on it and since I am the third owner I cannot say but I asked the last owner and he never installed anything over the tail lights. The rear tail light bulb seems to be causing the lense to overheat and melt. Since my PS did not melt I can only guess that is the cause.

Yep...did it on my 96. I put blackouts on and left them on for almost two years...took them off long enough to wash the lights/covers and put them back on. Next thing I know, both lights have flat spots. Too bad, too. Blackouts just make some cars look really good.
