When they say ignition, they mean just what you said (a power source that is hot with the key ON).

You want to wire the green signal wire to the tach feed from the PCM. It is at A13, white wire, red connector on the PCM. Or you can access it under the RH kick panel at C230, cavity D, white wire.

The coil is mounted on the front of the LH cylinder head.

Does this same idea apply to a 97 Z28? I'm hooking up a zex window switch inside the car and had prerun wires earlier for the tps and the ncu but forgot about the tach Id rather catch the tach wire inside rather then to run another wire outside.

Thank you

Shoebox,

I have another question for you. I've just received my B&M Shift plus and it says hook up to the pcm's C3 (Grey or white) Connector @ terminal #16 (red w/Black stripe) and to pcm's C4 (Blue) Connector @ Terminal #2 (light blue w/white stripe). I noticed of course that the plugs we are discussing above under the kick panel are blue and white, would I be lucky enough for those to be the right plugs?

Thanks for helping everyone, your the greatest

No, those don't come inside the car. You will have to run leads out to the engine compartment by the PCM. Of course, I have a guide on how to do that. http://shbox.com/fw/Firewall_wire_feed.html

Be careful with the Shift+. Many people ended up with problems after using it quite often on an older transmission. Seems a more worn out transmission does not like the high pressure too much. Just be judicious with its use.

I used one for a short time (not that often) quite some time ago and had no problems. Years ago, after people started having issues, you could not hardly give a Shift+ away. After PCM programming became more obtainable, most people went with that method for altering transmission behavior. It's a much better way for getting just what you want and easier on the transmission (if done correctly).

I was just looking on your website lol. Probably would have found it sooner or later. Thanks for all the info and advice. I only intend on using this when I'm on the n2o, thats when my shifting is a bit sparatic. I know sooner or later im going to need tranny work. I'm gonna start saving up, I think instead of rebuilding I will just get a B & M trans.

Thanks again for all the input.

Well I've installed this thing, but I don't think I'm noticing a difference at all. Being that you have used one before, is it just very subtle, or should it be a real hard shift. I might redo it and soldier the wires, I never did care much for these stupid quick connects crap that it came with.

Thanks

As long as the transmission is in good shape, there should be a noticable difference. The second position shifts very hard.

Yup...noticeable. Just as I suspected those dumb quick connectors didn't penetrate one of the wires. Working good now that i put some soldier on them. And I forgot to mention before, your instructions for going through the fire wall made it quick and easy.

Thanks
