Question T-Tops

Hey everyone, I'm new here, and I just bought my third F-Body('86 IROC). Since my second one('84 Camaro) got totalled and the first was sold because it was a 2.8('88 RS).

My question is, in the T-Top area on a '84 Camaro. There are two black brackets that are held in with 3 screws each (One bracket on each side of the center divider). Once the screws are removed, what is holding these brackets in place that will NOT allow for removal???

I've noticed alot of seam seal in the area and was wondering if there was an excessive amount there, and THAT was what was holding them in place. There are no longer any screws, or weather stripping in the area that could possibly hold it in place. I'm confused, and I really don't want to ruin these, as I need them for my '86 IROC.

Thanks,

DonnyLowrida

Are you talking about the center bracket on the roof that holds the T-tops in? I think there are 6 screws total on it and after you get all the screws out. There will be alot of body sealer that holds it down. I used a thin scraper when I removed it from my 89 Formula. You just have to keep working the thin scraper under it till she comes loose.

That would be the one. So it IS body sealer holding it in?!? I thought so, but I didn't want to force it. Thanks for the help.

No problem. It can be tight so take your time. It will enventually work loose. Just remember to replace the sealer before you put it back on or you will have a waterfall in your car when it rains!
