T- top help

I have a water leak between the edge of the ttop and the top of the side window, I washed my car the other day and when I looked inside, the driver side and passenger side seat were all wet on the outer edge......what do you think coulod be the problem.

Thanksalot

I don't have t-tops, but deductive reasoning leads me to conclude that most likely the weather stripping has worn away and needs to be replaced. Also, this question has little to do with LT1 specifics and thus should be placed in the F-Body discussion forum.

Any time a car leaks, you can usually find that the source is caused by that rubber stuff on the outside of the leaking area AKA weather stripping.

Take the tops off and reinstall them and make sure that the seals are overlapping each other on each trailing edge...(body seal over t-top seal).

When that started happening on the V6 Camaro I took it into a body shop and they said that it is a common problem with t-tops. They just adjusted the windows to make them go up a tiny bit higher to form a tighter seal, they didn't even charge me for it.

Also, make sure that you don't directly spray the seals with the hose or they will leak.

Once in a while mine leak where the window, windshield, and t-top all come together. I usually have to spray it directly for it to leak though. so when I wash my car I just shut a crumbled up paper towel in the door on each side.

Yes, Yes, I know... I spare no expense when fixing a leak

thanks but I think I figured out the problem.......the weather seals in between look to be molded in from being so old, so it doesn't reallyt form a tight seal anymore between the window and t top

My t-tops leak now and then too and I've tried everything from rubber cement to carrying a paper towel with me in case of rain.

The best fix I have found so far is black electrical tape. My t-tops leak on the top of the driver's window and the water trickles down during a downpour or if I spray that area hard when I'm washing the car.

The window doesn't push hard enough against the weatherstripping AND the slit where the back of the t-top meets the car's weatherstripping is also a vulnerable area for a leak too.

The tape fix DOES work, but the only drawback is you have to remove the tape everytime you take the t-tops off and reapply new tape when the t-tops go back on. You may also want to apply multiple layers of tape to ensure a tighter seal when the window is up. The tape is less than a dollar and it's not even noticeable, give it a try.

It's easily fixable if it even ever occurs. Definitely not a big enough reason for me to not get t-tops.
