Re: T-Top or Hardtop
I did the ttop conversion to my car so i've had both. Minimal weight gain, few lbs if any, no chassis strength loss (The rails you cut out are weak spot welds that can be broken by hand). I have no leakage whatsoever unless i would pressure wash my car, but i dont do that anyways. I love being able to see the sky and love driving with them off.

Re: T-Top or Hardtop
Yeah keeping them locked is a very good idea. My buddy didn't keep his locked and one day his was driving and his little girl pulled the handle and the t-top hit the car behind him. He had to but a new top and the other guy a hood...lol... Anyway My 89 leaks only at the carwash due to the high pressure. My brother n laws 94 does the same but his 2000 Z28 was just fine.
Re: T-Top or Hardtop
My 3rd gen had t-tops and they leaked, but then I had allot of power that twisted the car somewhat. If you are looking to beef your car up some down the road, dont get t-tops.
Re: T-Top or Hardtop
I originally wanted a t-top car but once I found my SS, I'm glad I don't have them. Most of the folks I know only have their t-tops out a handful of times a year. It's a pain waiting for them to put them in and take them out. Most people that ride in my car don't even notice a difference. I'm the same way when I ride in a t-top car. The position of the t-tops is such that you don't even notice whether they are there or not. I'll keep my hard top. An yes, they are rare.

. I've been caught out in the rain a couple times, and the interior hardly gets any drops in it, I can have the tops back on so fast
. That's a bad argument
.

Re: T-Top or Hardtop
That's why it was an OPTION to have them or not
. I like 'em, you don't. That's cool. I opted for an auto, and you'd probably sit and laugh at that too
. But hey, at least we agree on which CAR to drive!!
That's the beauty of 4th-gens too ... you can pick the tranny you want, and topless or not, but at the end of the day, you've still got a kick-a$$ car no matter how you look at it!
And you can beat on Mustangs and Ricers all day long!
