Such Bull DooDoo!!!

I hate LT1's they suck!

I cant get like 3 of the passenger side header bolts in.

I took the header off completly and they thread RIGHT IN no problem.

Once I put the header and gasket on they wont go in for nothing. I tried all different ways. It just wont go in

Lol.

Is there a way to get a stubby screwdriver in there to stick in the hole and make sure the gasket isnt in the way? If so try that.

Not sure what to tell ya bro except take a lot of breaks.

Thats what I would do, get a pin punch or something and put it in the hole and make sure it is fully opened before threading in the bolt.

I was cranking one of the bolts down and it ripped a thread out of the head!!!!!!!

If I buy an angle drill will it fit in there to drill it out then tap in new threads?

Yeah, most likely. Even with all the bolts tight, they can still find ways to leak. You can try drilling out the hole and doing a heli-coil. It won't be easy with the heads in the car. The right angle drill and a shortened drill bit might help though.

What kind of headers are these? Maybe its a problem with the header fitting, and not the engine (if you're certain the gasket isn't in the way).

He said in another thread that they were MAC mids. Mine fit in relatively easily.

If the bolts aligned correctly with the original manifolds, and the bolts thread freely into the heads without the header flange in the way, the problem is not an LT1 that sucks. The problem would appear to be either the header flange or the gasket.

These headers were installed in on my 94 couple years ago, they just sat in my shed since then.

I think its just cause i have ZERO luck with LT1's ever since i started with these cars 4 years ago...every other motor i can work on with no problem. LT1's hate me

Sounds to me like your header flang grew or shrunk some how, dont ask me how lol. Im guessing you cant see if the header holes line up with the engine holes? Pretty tight down there. Maybe a mirror? I would say ream out the holes bigger on the headers but that might cause a leak. Do the bolts fit through the header holes with the gasket on the headers? Im not a mechanic but try to help where I can lol.

I bet if you heated up the header flange, the bolt just might fit but good luck trying to get them off later (thats if they are just barely off the hole lineup.

One more question, did you get them re-galvanized? That will really give you problems sometimes, had experience a lot with that just not on headers.

All I did was paint the headers.

They seem to line up right. I just cross threaded a few bolts.

Tomorrow im gunna try it again. Use a thread chaser and see what I can do.

~~question~~

Out of all 6 bolts, what If I put 5 of them on tight to spec and then the front one (one that i ripped the threads out) not there, just put a bunch of high temp silicone??
