Stupid battery cable question

Ok, so the new motor is in and i'm starting to do the wiring working from bottom up. I don't quit see where all the battery cable connections go. I see the + cable has two leads coming off the head of the cable, and I know one goes to the alternantor but where does the other go...ground??? Then the - cable obviously you ground on of the wires but where do you ground the wire by the starter? or do you also connect it to the starter? All the drawings I see shows it going to the block behind the compressor, but the way the wires have been routed it looks like it would be closer to the starter than that. Can anyone help???

Re: Stupid battery cable question

The positive cable goes to the starter, alternator and junction on the RH shock tower (red plastic cover). If you connect one of the positive leads to ground, you are going to have one heck of a short and a big meltdown . The negative cable goes to the block by the RH engine mount.

Re: Stupid battery cable question

so does the other cable coming off the head of the negative cable also connect with the junction box or does it get grounded elsewhere?

Re: Stupid battery cable question

nevermind, I saw the pic of the fusible links. Looks like the neg. cable is grounded just above it.

I forgot about that little cable on the negative side. It goes to the ground lug that is behind the red, plastic junction. It is a ground lug sitting there with no cover, next to the ps reservoir. It should have a few other ground wires on it.

and to prevent any possible ground issues, you might want to remove the stud from the fender and make sure everything is good and clean
