Stuck Radiator Cap

I need to get the cap off the radiator in my '96 LT1. When I go to take it off though, it turns about a quarter of a turn, and then will not go any further. I'm going counter-clockwise with it, and it doesn't seem to want to come off. Is this a common issue? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Are you pushing down while you turn it?

Yeah, I've tried pushing down, turning without pushing, ect. It's plastic, and I feel like if I keep pushing it, I'm going to break the thing.

Like a child proof cap, push and turn. If it hasn't been off in a while it may need some coaxing.

Sometimes you have to put some heavy downward pressure on it while turning.

Ok, maybe I'll eat my Wheaties tonight and then give it a shot.
