Strange electricall problems after winter storage. Advice.
Strange electricall problems after winter storage. Advice.
So I was going to try and start the car today. I figured the battery might be dead as I did not disconnect it. It was a BRAND new battery last August. Once during the winter after about a month in storage I fired the car up without probelm.
Today the battery is stone cold dead. Not even a glimmer of light on the courtesy. I expected it to be dead. But STOBE dead. HMMMMM
I put the trickle charger on and the two front motors on the pop up lights start clicking. The lights to not move up but the motors click. I unplug both of them and find that there is a "clicking" in the firewall. I figure its behind the radio. Also the red alarm light is blinking. When I open the door it blinks quicker.
I doconnected the power from the battery and am now charging the battery on its own.
Any advice, thoughts or recommendations?

Re: Strange electricall problems after winter storage. Advice.
The battery will lose up to 10 percent of its juice every week if there is no draw. Kick that up to 15-20 percent every week if it's hooked up due to the micro-electronics (computer, anti-theft, etc).
Letting a battery go dead is not good, but you may be ok if you bring the charge up slow (use a Battery Minder or Battery Tender). If you live in an apartment, get a solar powered battery charger.
Make sure the battery is fully charged or you'll burn up the alternator (which has to run at full boogie all the time, just to keep up).
Good luck

The relays , PCM, BCM etc. need proper voltage to work, don't worry about waht you're seeing until it fully charged and you reconnect everything.
