Straight pipes question
I was wanting 2 know, right now on my 89' Camaro I have turndowns on it, will it make it louder than putting tips if I just leave the tunrdowns on it, because I'm only putting 2 high flow catalytic converters on true dual exhaust and the car has a 350 in it, and does tips make a difference in the sound or loudness of it?

Re: Straight pipes question
Little confused, but will try to help.
Turndowns will make it louder inside the car and to all sides of it. (Assuming you mean before the axle) Tips will move the sound out from under the car. This makes it quiter inside and would be the loudest in the direction the tips are pointing.
Tips don't make much of a difference if you are talking like 4th gen z28 tips. If you are talking aboout those 16" farm truck chrome tips people put on their cars yes it can change the sound.

Re: Straight pipes question
Just a suggestion, but you may want to omit the cats, and just use a bullet ( dynomax ) style mufler(s). Turn down pre-axel . The cats will absorb more sound than you would think.
This weekend I will be doing this to mine. I will try to get video up of it (unless of course it sounds like hell.
