Steering column moves up and down

Are there bolts somewhere I can tighted up. My old Z28 did this too and I never really bothered with it, but this is annoying.

It will only move maybe a quarter of an inch, but if you grab the top of the steering wheel, you can move it down a bit and it then comes back up by itself.

I just fixed mine. What a PITA. You need to completely tear down the column. I recommend removing the steering wheel, then pull the column from the car to do the repair.

You'll need a wheel puller, and a GM lock plate removal tool. The problem is either a loose pivot pin or the screws that hold the tilt frame to the lower column are loose. I've replied to another thread on here today with more details for another guy having question about the steering column.

You need to dig deep. It is not an easy job.
