steering column

Hey fellas!!!
I'm new to the forum, so don't mind me while i settle in. Anyways, I recently bought an '89 RS camaro in fairly good condition. I bought it for the body, since i have a rebuilt 350 in my garage just drooling for a chance to escape. Needless to say, the steering column broke nearly in half, since it was already in bad shape. I went out to the local junkyard and found myself the exact same car with a steering column. I took the column home and tried to install it, but for some reason, the shaft won't reach the coupling. I've been trying to pull the shaft out farther, but it won't budge. Does anyone know what the heck is goin on here? any help would be greatly appreciated...Thanks a bunch fellas

Re: steering column

The steering shaft is made to collapse in a frontal impact. Maybe your donor car had this happen. The only solution is another shaft.
