I drive 75 miles two times a day (all interstate except .5 miles at each end) so this problem might not be brand new, but yesterday after sitting for approx 5 minutes looking for a parking spot, my overflow started overflowing, soaking my battery and steaming like crazy. The temp gauge was in its normal possition (yeah i know what that means) and the fans were Not on. I let it sit and cool for 2 hours and filled it back up (took almost .5 gal). I made it home without issue but the temp was a little higher than normal (still less than 210 mark).
Today: I checked the fans-they come on with the a/c only.
I checked the relays- they are fine
I checked the temp sensor- it seams to read accurately
I checked the PCM- I get 5ish volts
I filled it up and let it run open radiator, topping it off for like 10 min. Temp gauge never got high. Then it spews coolant out everywhere. Still no fans.
WHAT GIVES? can this be thermostat even though I drove 80 mph for 1 hour and didnt overheat? What am I missing?
