Sport Appearance Package Question

I have a 2002 Z28 with the sport appearance package. I want to go through Mike's Car Wash in order to get the underbody spray for salt and ****. I was wondering if it is safe to run my Camaro through the car wash without the guide rails ripping off the moldings and fascias.

Re: Sport Appearance Package Question

I've run through 2 or 3 different types of car washes with no problems (except 1 that scratched the back bumper of my car pretty badly ). I got the scratches off, luckily, but as far as the ground FX, no prob.

...also, it seems my car sits lower than any of my buddies' cars, stock-for-stock, except the guys who have lowered their cars. I've had mine since new, so that's the way it came from the factory.

Re: Sport Appearance Package Question

Hey jfv04 or Capn Pete;

Also have the same molding package on my 2002 Z28. Want to remove the molding on top of the spoiler only because I would like increased vision in the rear, especially when backing up. Do not know how it is held to the spoiler - assumed it was glued, but realize it might be screwed in. Any hints about removing that strip, or should I go to Chevrolet?

Gracias for any input.

Steve

Re: Sport Appearance Package Question

It seems that the front fascia will clear it just fine. What i'm really nervous about are the side skirts. But if you've done it, and I think that my car has never been altered by anyone else, I think it will be safe. Thanks.

the spoiler is screwed in
if you really want to get rid of it, you're better off buying a factory camaro, or z28, stock spoiler since yours will have holes in it if you take the top off

Do you really think that extra ~2" is going to make a big difference?! Hell, that spoiler is one of my favourite parts of the appearance of the car! I prefer that spoiler over both the stock Camaro / Z28 spoiler, and even over the SS spoiler. And you want to go and take it off?!

I've never found visibility bad out the back, and I've had this car ~2.5 years.

If your new to the Camaro it will take some time to get useto it, First time I backed up a camaro I went nuts! now I'm a pro

I'd keep it, it's part of the look, car looks so much more complete with the full package, I wish mine had the sport apearence package, but I didnt know it existed at the time
