Hook computer directly into data/diagnostics port?

I was wondering if there was a cable and program somewhere that I can use and hook my laptop directly to my data port and use the computer to monitor the speed, RPM, etc. Just thought it'd be a neat thing to be able to do.

I believe there are ones out there for OBD1, What they are I'm not sure; I'm an OBDII guy myself...

Try the Programming forum here, they'll know exactly what and where to get it.

The only thing I'm aware of for the pre-4th Gen GM's is Diacom. Its a real dinosaur and seriously overpriced, but it works.
