speed gauge not working correctly!?
It works most of the time, but more and more lately when driving or even when stopped at a light the speed gauge will act like it's accelerating !
I'll be doing 40 and it says i'm doing 60 or 70... Then it will go back to normal and back again.
All the other gauges don't do this and seem to work properly even when this event is happening.
Any suggestions and/or hints?
Thanks

I guess you mean the speedometer...... Its driven by the PCM, based on the input signal from the vehicle speed sensor (VSS) on the tailshaft housing of the tranny. If you have a scanner, you can observe the VSS reading in the PCM to see if that is acting erratic. If it is, the problem is the VSS. If it's not showing the same incorrect values on the scanner, its a problem with the speedometer mechanism.
Its also possible you have some sort of a high voltage line, like an ignition wire, causing interference on the wiring, but there's no high voltage wires near the VSS wire or the wire from the PCM to the speedo.
And this isn't an "Advanced Tech" problem, so let's move it to the correct forum.

Alright Thanks for the info! I'll take a look at the VSS reading when I have a chance
Thanks for also moving it into the appropriate forum, wasn't too sure on where it belonged.

Re: speed gauge not working correctly!?
Update:
Turns out the ground wires on the stud next to the coil and ICM weren't secure via the nut. Tighten it down and my car will now run perfect fine without dying on me and my gauges don't do that weird thing any more.
