Soon to be Z28'er!!!

Hey, I've been browsing this forum a lot recently. I'm 16(17 in August) and I'm supposed to be getting a '93 Z28 on Saturday I found a guy selling it for $2200, it has 190k miles, but since it's so cheap, I can afford a rebuild. It is bone stock and has had two owners. The original owner sold it after a divorce at like 20k miles and the current owner has used it for commuting back and forth from Richmond to Chesapeake(VA). It's an old guy so I really doubt it's been abused. I've seen the service records and it's never missed an oil change and whatnot. The guy had a stroke and can't get into it really easily now so he needs to get rid of it. It's an A4, but my parents are **** about me getting a manual(they have to be able to drive it... just in case ) Only reported problems are a small scratch on the passenger side door, the electric locks don't always work, and theres a small tear in one of the seats. I'd say not too shabby for a first car

And no, it's not too much power for me, I plan on taking a tech class in my highschool to get ASE certified, and I've been informed that if you get ANY points on your liscense, you've pretty much ruined any hope of working at a dealership or something of the like. Which I plan on doing later in life.

Oh yeah, I'm Tony

sup Tony..
the dark side will tempt you.. power is fun and when you have the power to hit 100mph from a dead stop in 14 sec its so tempting..

LT1's are fairly easy to work on so it should do you good to get some wrench time.. Look into updating it to a 95-97 LT1 for the better opti and whatnot...

A4's are better for drag racing.. M6 is just considered more fun...

enjoy your car and be safe...

The day will come when your left and right foot are both mased to the floor...I beleave the M6 with the GU6 code is a better gear ratio than the A4 with the GU6 code..(GU6 being performance gear ratio) A4 being 3.23 M6 being 3.42.

Welcome to the board, this is a great place to learn about our cars and get help when needed. You can find good deals on mods in the for sale section and get some cash to use on your car if you have some parts for sale. Be good to the people on the board and they'll bo good to you.

Re: Soon to be Z28'er!!!

Thanks for the warm welcome guys! I was already on the dark side... I was originally looking for a 5.0 mustang and the one I was looking at was sold before I could have all the money. As luck would have it found a '93 F body for $2200. Now I know it has speed density and the ignition isn't quite as good... but hey! It will still whoop on imports... and now other mustangs I'm sure I'll be tempted to floor it now and then, but I don't plan on being stupid on a regular basis seeing as I don't want my education to go to waste. For the time being, I only plan on saving for minor upgrades like CAI and exhaust(I heard a soundclip of an lt1 w/ magnaflow catbacks... I needed new pants) and wheels/tires. something bold and sweet looking.. as long as they aren't chrome. I'm hoping that when I start at the tech school next year I get on the teacher's good side and I can come with him to a few dragstrips to help work on the school's alcohol funny car And maybe run my camaro down the strip just to see what kind of times I get.

Re: Soon to be Z28'er!!!

I went to buy a mustang after I sold my first camaro cause I wanted to see how the other half drove. When I got there they also had a 95 M6 and after test driving it I drove it off the lot. Since then I've owned two more. A 2000 M6 Silver Z28 and now a 97 Dark Green A4 Z28. These cars are so good people Ive let test drive mine have gone out and bought them.

I should ask for commission for this!!
