Something flew out of my muffler

I need some advice, Recently my car has been getting a little sluggish so I check plugs and wires ect. Yesturday I was driving, I get on the expressway in first gear and put the petal to the floor to get up to Highway traffic speeds, I hit around 5500RPMs and kick into 2nd gear, the car starts spinning it's tires, grips and I get a hard boost of energy I look out my rear view mirror and there is a cloud of brown dust and things bouncing out from the back of my car.

The was running good and now feels a little sluggish again, so I ask my brother to watch my tailpipe while sitting in front of my house, I rev my engine up to 6K a few times and He yells to me that something flew out of my muffler.

I got photo's can someone tell me what this is and how I can get my car back to normal performance?

Thanks all.

Thats a piece of your cat. You car was probably sluggish because the cat was clogged. You can either gut your cat. Get a high-flo cat. Or remove it all together if you dont have to worry about emmisions.

yeah, the honey-comb piece in a cat is called a substrate. when heated, thats what helps turn the carbon monoxide to carbon dioxide

definitly part of the cat. As said above its a good time to upgrade to a high flow unit.

The substrate is just ceramic. Its the precious metal coating (platinum, rodium, etc) that acts as a catalyst for the reaction.

I used to work QC at a Delphi plant that coated the cores.
